At DMBS we offer a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum which is based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales. The school builds on this and offers Arabic and French to our students. There is a strong emphasis and English and Mathematics from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 3.Maths, Science, English and ICT form the “Core” subjects of the curriculum, and adequate time is allocated to these subjects: History, Geography, P.E., Design Technology and Art, and Music, are for all students to participate in.

 

Core Subjects

All areas of the National Curriculum are covered through an integrated programme consisting of speaking, listening .reading and writing. Effective communication, both written and oral is the key aim of our curriculum. Spelling is considered a very important tool for writing and is monitored at all stage from Reception to the end of KS2.

 

Mathematics

The National Curriculum Numeracy Strategy is at the heart of our teaching and learning .Great importance is placed on strategies, investigations and development and concepts. Mathematic language and reasoning skills are taught.

 

Science

A comprehensive science programme is offered, incorporating experimental
and investigative science, life processes and living things, materials and their properties and physical processes.

 

Information and Communication technology
The school has a computer room addition to computers in many of the classrooms. Using I.C.T guidelines as set by the National Curriculum, students can apply and develop their ICT skills and capability to support their learning in other curriculum overseas.
